It is not necessary to audition for membership. However, persons interested in joining the band should have benefited from the experiences of playing in a band during their school days or else having similar experiences playing in a group in order to have a reasonable, basic understanding of music and also to have experience in ensemble playing. New members should be willing to play the 2nd and 3rd parts until their level of proficiency can be determined relative to other members of their section in order to assign parts properly.
